Big on Basics is a player development program built on fundamentals, discipline, and long-term growth nothing flashy, no shortcuts. Just real work. Founded by Coach Cory Miller, Big on Basics was created to give young athletes something that is becoming increasingly rare in today’s youth basketball landscape: intentional skill development and honest coaching. In an era driven by rankings, exposure, and instant gratification, Big on Basics exists to bring players back to what actually creates opportunity skill, confidence, and consistency.
We specialize in teaching the foundations of basketball the right way shooting mechanics, footwork, ball control, finishing, decision-making, and basketball IQ while helping players learn how to compete, handle adversity, and fall in love with the process of getting better.
A New Era Requires a New Approach
The game has changed.
College basketball rosters are older. Opportunities straight out of high school are more limited. The transfer portal, re-classifications, and eligibility changes mean that development now matters more than ever. Players who separate themselves long-term are the ones who have real skills and understand how to play not just athletes chasing the next tournament or highlight.
Big on Basics was built with this reality in mind.
Our mission is not to promise scholarships or shortcuts. Our mission is to prepare players for whatever level the game takes them to—by building a strong foundation early and reinforcing it every step of the way.
Development First. Always.
At Big on Basics, we believe:
Our training environment is high-energy, demanding, and intentional. Players are coached, corrected, challenged, and supported. Whether an athlete plays rec, travel, middle school, or high school basketball, our programs are designed to complement—not conflict with—team play, giving players an extra edge through focused development.
More Than Basketball
While basketball is the vehicle, character, accountability, and work ethic are the destination. We teach players how to show up prepared, respond to coaching, compete the right way, and build confidence through effort. These lessons extend far beyond the court.
Big on Basics isn’t about being the biggest program it’s about being the most intentional.
If your athlete is willing to work, embrace coaching, and commit to the fundamentals, Big on Basics is where growth happens.
Built on reps. Built on discipline. Built on fundamentals.
